Soon following the installation, a rumor circulated around the neighborhood that the observatory needed to remain white and could not be painted a less obtrusive color. It is a discordant note which jars the visual harmony here. Its impact might well decrease property values.

I want to apologize for signing the petition that is mentioned in your letter. I had no idea that no one had spoken directly to you. I know that "most" of the members of the SF Hills Neighborhood Assoc. will be happy with the paint job, as this addresses the "aesthetic" issue. Good luck.
