MUG '00 -- 14th Daylight User Group Meeting -- 22-25 Feb 2000

PyDaylight II

Andrew Dalke

ABSTRACT

At last year's MUG I presented PyDaylight, a Python interface to the Daylight toolkit. PyDaylight uses Python's language features -- classes, exceptions and garbage collection -- to simplify toolkit programming and reduce development time by over a factor of four.

This year I will give a presentation on why you should use Python and PyDaylight, followed by a walk-through of some example programs I've written using PyDaylight. Python will be installed on the machines in the breakout room, so feel free to try them out yourself. After the walkthrough, I can describe some of the implementation details for the curious.
