Dynamic shared object linking
All Daylight binary executables have been converted to dynamic shared objects for runtime execution.
- allows operating system more efficient use of its resources when multiple
users execute Daylight programs.
- operating system loads one copy of the Daylight libraries into memory
- binaries are smaller by a factor of 5-10X
- requires an additional entry in the LD_LIBRARYPATH environment variable.
